Cold In New York!

Right about now, I am pretty sick of winter. I hate the cold, and I hate the snow. Today was a pretty sunny day, in fact it was super bright out. The only drawback, it was about 12 degrees all day long!

Tomorrow is March 1st, I consider that spring time, not winter time! We should be watching the tulips grow, not the water freeze!

Arizona is always a place I would love to go. Nice and warm. Not a lot of allergens either. ( My husband and I both have severe allergies)

Right now it is about 80 degrees in Arizona. Nice! Looking for property can be pretty daunting also. I have come across this real estate company, Scottsdale Fine Properties.

They have new home developments, condos, and lease back properties!

I really want to move to Arizona, it is just the right weather for me!

Ohio Mother Breast Fed Child While Driving

An Ohio mother has been charged with child endangerment, since another motorist saw her breast feeding a child while driving and talking on a cell phone.

How dumb can you be? Her comment was she wasn't going to let her child go hungry.
How about keeping your child safe above all else? The child would not have starved to death if he/she had to wait 5 minutes for mom to pull over.

Sometimes people never cease to amaze me!

Lapband Surgery, Is It For You?

If you are overweight, or even obese, chances are you have considered lap-band surgery. A couple of the lap-band procedure requirements are that you are at least 18 years old, and that you are ate least 100 lbs. overweight, or your BMI is 40 or higher (35 if you have one or more obesity related health conditions.

I understand where people are coming from who are considering the procedure. I am considered obese, since I have more than 50 lbs to lose to achieve my ideal healthy weight. I am not a candidate for this procedure since I am not at least 100 lbs overweight, and my BMI is 29.5.

I don’t like to admit all the above information, but it is the truth… I have tried about every diet you could think of, and so far nothing is working. I go to the gym at least 3 times per week for at least 30 minutes each. I also work out at home with a home system. For a week I would average at least 3 hours worth of exercise.

My problem is I love to eat, I love food. I am addicted to it. I am seriously considering hypnosis this time!

If you are considering the procedure, consider a jacksonville lap-band doctor, especially if you live in Jacksonville, Fl. It is worth looking into the Journeylite program. The surgeons there do nothing but lap-band procedures, all as laparoscopic procedures, not as an open surgery.

For more information about the lap-band procedure and Journeylite, please click the link above in the post!

British Couple Survives 6 Weeks Stranded At Sea

A British couple has survived 6 weeks stranded at sea, 40 days to be exact. The couple left Cape Verde Islands on January 9th. They were headed to Antigua, where they were going to stay until April.

Half way through their journey the rudder jammed. This caused them to go in circles at sea. They tried all they could to correct this, but to no avail. They were rescued by an Italian tanker in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

Google Is Human?

Well not really, but they have errors! Google's Gmail service went down yesterday for 3 hours. Apparently quite a few people were up in arms about the failure in service. Twitter was working in overdrive, with people complaining.

Gmail has gotten more and more popular over the years since Google has been pushing the service to corporations to switch from Microsoft Outlook.

Magna International Made $71 Million Profit In 2008

Yep, you read it right, $71 million. Greed, this is why the country is in the situation we are in. Pure greed.

Magna asked the employees to cut their wages last year, then decided to close doors in Syracuse, NY. Yet despite a slight loss in the last quarter, still came out ahead with $71 million profit.

Where is the logic to all these people losing their jobs? There isn't. It is just pure greed for the CEO's of the corporation.

Pure greed for the wealthy in our society as well. No one seems to care anymore about how the little guy is faring. Lets just keep bailing out the banks, and they will keep raising their rates and fees even though they are being funded by the government.

Ok, I didn't want to get this deep into this issue, I better stop now! What are your thoughts?

Wii

Oh my lord, so we got the Wii over this past weekend. I am having so much fun with this, as is my daughter and husband.

I never thought I would get into a "video game", but I am! I am loving the Wii Fit, and its training. It makes it fun, and is not boring at all, in fact it pushes you, because you always want to beat your last score!

Needless to say, I am getting addicted, and hopefully this will help me on my road to losing more weight, than just going to the gym alone!

Today I went to the gym at 8 am-9 am then came home and used the game for 30 minutes doing step aerobics. So total, I got about a little more than an hour of exercise today. I hope that helps!

Getting Fit

Ever since high school I have struggled with my weight. I am not very tall, only 5'4", and I weigh, lets say , way too much! I am able to hide my weight very well, no one usually believes me when I tell them my real weight. I guess that is good, right?

Not! I just don't feel good. I feel much better about myself, and my body feels better when I am around 120lbs. I know this is probably a reach, since I am a mother of 2, and going to be 36 in a week.

I have been going to the gym at least 4 times a week, walk the treadmill for 15-20 minutes each time, then do some nautilus for 15 more minutes. The weight is not coming off!

Could have something to do with the fact that I love food.

Octuplets Situation

Ok, I know this is going to be a touchy subject. The octuplets were born to a mother with already 6 children. That part, really doesn't matter, until you get to the part that her prior 6 children aren't living with her, they are with their grandmother. Then, add to it, the mother is collecting food stamps, and disability checks from 3 of her 6 children.

Now to the good part, the octuplets were conceived through invitro fertilization, the same as the prior 6 children.

I know some people will want to shoot me for this, but I don't believe this is right. This mother should not have been allowed to have invitro fertilization in the first place, she couldn't afford the children. She does not work, granted she is going for her masters degree. Why would you want to put yourself through that stress when you are stressed enough as it is with a masters program?

I guess I just don't understand it, I'm sure there are parts of this situation that I don't know, but the basics are there...I just don't agree with it.

Is Inviting Yourself Wrong?

My question of the day is, Is inviting yourself wrong, and or rude?

Why am I asking this question? Because I have had a recurring problem with my in-laws and this issue.

They are constantly showing up unannounced, their daughter calls here and asks if she can come over and spend the night. Also they have shown up and the daughter will ask to stay in front of my daughter.

I think it is totally rude. I have told them and her before that I don't like it, and to wait until they/she is invited.

Why today? I was at work, my mother in law was watching my kids at my house, when my sister in law showed up un announced. Her daughter proceeds to ask if she can stay, then my daughter ends up calling me at work for permission.

I wanted to reach through the phone and wring her (my sister in law's) neck! Not to mention that I wasn't even home!

My answer was obviously no, and I gave my daughter the information to relay, or I could tell them if she was uncomfortable. Nope, she wanted to be a big girl and tell them herself! Yeah!!!

I told her that I was uncomfortable with her being there when I was not. That was how I left it.

What do you guys think?

Opening Doors

The little one just started opening doors. Nothing is safe in this house anymore!

We already have child locks on all the cabinets, and drawers in the kitchen...

Now this means we need to do the same in the bathroom, since that is one of the rooms we kept off limits to her.

It is so much fun raising a baby...just to see all the milestones they make!

Next will be the talking, in sentences!

She can already say, "have a nice day" and "what you doing?". Of course she has single words she says, but it will just be so exciting when she can actually tell us what she wants!

Daughter and Grandmother 2

I will get to see how this story plays out today...

My husband's mother is coming to watch the girls today while I go to work for a couple of hours. I told my daughter that she had better be on her best behavior, and do whatever she tells her.

No ifs ands or buts! I also told her she had better show her the utmost respect and treat her like she would treat her dad's mother. Then I thought better of it, since she lets her get away with murder.

I told her she had better treat her like she treats me!

Glutton For Punishment

Miss Lily Bug, Murphy Brown, Troy(Tyson)(Hans)...
Tyson

Ok, I don't know if any of you know this, but my family are animal lovers. Specifically dogs.

We had a male doberman named Harley. He passed away of DCM 2 years ago on July 4th. He was my husband's best friend. His heart was so broken when it happened, I didn't think he would come out of it. Luckily he did.

The day after Harley died, we found Miss Lily Bug. She is our oldest boxer, and my best friend. Miss Lily is almost as good a dog as Harley was in my husbands eyes. In my eyes, she is. I love her to death...

Then we got Murphy Brown. Murphy is our second boxer, and she is much higher strung than Lily is. Over all, she is a good girl.

Then, my husband decided it was time for another doberman...We looked, and couldn't find one...then when my husband was looking in the swap sheet, he came across an ad, with a phone # he recognized.

It was the couple we had given a doberman to last year. He called, and sure enough the puppies were her litter!

We went over and met all the remaining puppies, he fell in love with one. We brought him home, and are still going through names 4 weeks later!

That is another issue all together, neither one of us can decide on a name for him. I want a nice manly but different name. He wants a really off the wall name....Hans....then it was Tyson, which I thought reminded me of Mike Tyson, the wife beater.

Not a good name for me. Now he has come up with Troy. Needless to say, I can't keep any of the kids, or dogs names straight! I have teased him, saying his name is T-Dog!

Daughter and Grandmother

Another situation is my daughter spending time with my husband's mother.

Every time they are alone together, I end up hearing a story from my husband about how bad she was for his mother.

My daughter is not a bad child, she never has been. I know sometimes, mothers think the best of their children, and don't see the negatives, but I do see the negatives.

My daughter tends to lack common sense, she is book smart, but totally lacks common sense. She drives me up a wall having to repeat things to her all day long.

But, I just don't see my girl being disrespectful to an adult...Which is what I am being told. She has never done this to anyone else to my knowledge.

If my mother in law asks her to clean up her mess on the counter, she will tell her no.

My ass would have been grass if I had even dreamed of saying that to ANY adult!

My husband believes his mother is embellishing the stories a tad as well. So I don't know what to believe here.

Is she rebelling, because she doesn't feel my mother in law is her "real grandma"?

We have always told my daughter that she is extra special because she has so many families now. Two Christmases, birthdays, etc...

Is this another situation of her being a typical 8 year old, or is she really being a brat towards my mother in law?

Life With An 8 Year Old Girl And Her Step-Father

The story starts with me, divorcing the father of my oldest daughter. She is 8 yrs. soon to be 9. We divorced when she was 5.

I met my current husband and married shortly there after. I know many may think this was a horrible thing to do, but it is what it is.

My husband is a very loving, thoughtful person, who adores my daughter. My daughter adores her father, and step father.

There are times though that she just doesn't think. When she leaves to go with my ex, recently, she has not been saying good bye to her step dad.

I don't know what to make of this. Is she just excited to get back with her dad, and doesn't mean it. Or is she purposely neglecting her step dad?

My first guess is, she is an 8 year old who doesn't use her head for anything except her school work, and her PS2. But that doesn't take away the fact that it hurts her step dad.

What do you guys think?

Plane Crash In Buffalo Kills 50

It just sends shivers up my spine...My husband flies nearly every week for business, and with more and more crashes, I get nervous. Continental flight 3407 crashed into a home in Buffalo, NY killing 50.

I am not a nervous person by nature, but this bothers me.

This was close to home also, not that it really matters, but Buffalo is less than 3 hours from me.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims. Godspeed.

5 Year Old Finds Oxycontin In Her Pants

It never ceases to amaze me how dumb people can be, and I hate to say it, but this proves how some people aren't fit to reproduce! In Surgoinsville, Tenn. police arrested a man that is accused of stashing painkillers in his 5 year old niece's pants pocket. He is charged with possession of narcotics and reckless endangerment and is scheduled for arraignment Feb. 9.

28-year-old Dickie Lynn Keirsey, who police said lives with the child's family, was arrested.
